Final Fantasy is a very long running franchise, one of the oldest in the games industry. Despite the fact that the developer and publisher Square Enix (then Squaresoft) was near bankruptcy at a few intervals, their Final Fantasy series has regularly been a success, that is until recently as it begins to stagnate.

So there you have it – the miraculous success of the original Final Fantasy cemented that name for the rest of the franchise, all the way to its latest iteration: Final Fantasy XV (formerly known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII).
