Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP gets changed from remake to remaster

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

Publisher Dragami Games has announced Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is changing its overall development from a full remake to a simple remaster.

The news was confirmed by Dragami Games president Yoshimi Yasuda, who simply said the game is changing from a remake to a remaster “based on your requests.” Further information wasn’t shared.

Originally announced back in July 2022, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is now a remaster of the 2012-released game Lollipop Chainsaw, developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 by Grasshopper Manufacture.

It’s worth noting original director Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda is not involved in the new release and neither is original writer James Gunn, and the gaming industry is quite different and more censorious now.

Censorship on the new release has been a concern from the get-go, Dragami Games said they’ll negotiate with platform holders on censorship, but curiously said Juliet’s outfit(s) will be uncensored.

The previously announced remaster, officially titled Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, is launching sometime in summer 2024. Release platforms are still unconfirmed.
