Japanese VTubers apologize after NSFW Splatoon 3 games

Splatoon 3

A Japanese VTuber group called “The Shinso-gumi” has apologized after streaming NSFW material during a Splatoon 3 live stream. The stream was pulled from YouTube for being a violation of both YouTube’s and Nintendo’s policies for streaming.

What makes this Splatoon 3 story even more interesting is how the content was being shared. You may be assuming a streamer just showed some NSFW art from Pixiv briefly, or some other fanart, you’d be wrong.

The VTubers color-coded their opponents ink to be transparent on their stream and had hardcore porn playing in the background. This added a level of danger to the match, because the more territory their opponent coated with ink, the more risky (and risque!) their stream became.

You can read the apology from The Shinso-gumi below.

Thank you very much for your continued support of Shinsei Gumi.

We are writing to inform you that one of our members, [Ikinone] Tomeru, violated the terms of our video distribution platform on October 8, 2022 (Saturday).

We have issued a strict warning to the member, and have also confirmed that the management was largely responsible for the incident, so we have issued a strict warning and disciplinary action to the relevant staff members as well. We will take disciplinary action against “Breathtaking” as soon as the policy is finalized.

We deeply regret the incident, and we will take precautions to ensure that similar problems will not occur again in our future activities. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to all parties concerned and for the concern this has caused to many people.

We ask that you refrain from contacting the members directly regarding this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us through the inquiry page on our official website

The apology makes explicit mention of Ikinone Tomeru. Unmentioned are multiple independent VTubers also involved with this Splatoon incident.
