Is NBA 2K23 Worth Its Purchasing Price?

The developers at 2K know how to make games that offer a great gaming experience, and NBA 2K23 is just another example of the top-level work they do. The latest addition to the NBA 2K series offers all the features that made the series popular. However, there are a couple of things that could have been done better.

You Are Going to Have to Work Hard for Your Virtual Currency

NBA 2K23 is very generous when it comes to giving free cosmetic items to its players, but when it comes to virtual currency, then you will have to spend a lot of gameplay hours in order to avoid paying for the purchase of VC. The daily affiliation rewards can come in the form of VC, but this part of the game is a little bit like playing live blackjack at an online casino: some days you win big, and some days, luck will not be on your side. If you regularly access MyCareer, if you participate in the daily missions, and if you play games with your team or with other players, then you will get enough VC to level up your avatar and to purchase the items you want.

The Reviews Are Mixed, but the Game Is Pretty Good

NBA 2K23 has received mixed reviews, but this is not because the game is not worth your time. In terms of gameplay, the game is more or less the same as its predecessor. The MyCareer storyline has changed a little bit, but the user experience is the same. MyTeam is a little bit better, but 2K has not made many changes. The Michael Jordan Challenge is definitely an interesting feature, as players can participate in some of the most iconic college and professional moments in the career of the greatest basketball player of all time. The reason why many people give the game a “thumbs down” is its micro-transaction system. VC has become a lot harder to obtain if one were to compare 2K23 to the previous game of the , and this seems to be annoying players that cannot really afford paying extra for an already expensive game.

The Player Replicas Are This Year’s Easter Egg

A positive change in 2K23 is the replica builds. Players have already discovered around 50 replica builds, so if you do not want to create a Paint Beast or a 2-Way 3-Level Shooter, then you can replicate the build of players such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson or Karl Malone. Some replicas are not that great, but with more and more being discovered every day, it is certain that you will find the build that fits your gameplay needs. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that the replica builds of specific players may not be as good as you would imagine. For example, the Michael Jordan replica seems to be worse than the “Vince Carter” and Dennis Rodman seems to be a lot better than he really was.

A Serious Stain on the Prestige of 2K

The recent hacking incident has created a lot of negative publicity for 2K Games and for its subsidiaries. The company confirmed that a third party illegally accessed the credentials of one of its vendors and this has created a security threat for the players of 2K games. Every player who may feel that their sensitive information has been compromised will have to update their login details. Though this can happen to every company offering online services, it is something that has negatively affected the image of 2K.
