IO Interactive’s new fantasy RPG could be Xbox-exclusive

IO Interactive

A new report seems to suggest IO Interactive’s big new fantasy RPG might be an Xbox console exclusive.

The new report comes from the latest round of documents and information on the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which the Federal Trade Commission is challenging.

In the documents submitted to the court hearing, a section titled “Expected Release & Previously Shipped Games” has a game “Project Dragon” listed with the platforms “PC and X|S”, suggesting it’s an Xbox-console exclusive.

While IO Interactive hasn’t given a title or a codename for their new fantasy RPG, the internal documents from Microsoft say the developer is working on “Project Dragon,” and list it as both a shooter and an RPG.

The reasoning behind Microsoft including all of this information for IO Interactive is because they were actually considering acquiring the developer at one point or another.

Regardless, IO Interactive has put the Hitman series on the shelf to focus on their other titles – like their 007 game and possibly this new fantasy RPG.
