In Kholat, Lots of People Die, but Sean Bean Isn’t One of Them

The Dyatlov Pass Incident is a very intriguing, mysterious, and yet grisly tale of an unfortunate group of nine hikers that has inspired lots of horror directors, both in game and film, for decades.

For those in need of a refresher, the nine hikers, led by Igor Dyatlov (of which the Ural Mountain pass has now gotten its name), fled their campsite one night, in what seems to be from some kind of threat. While there were no signs of struggle, all nine hikers were later found dead, with fractured skulls and broken ribs.

The upcoming game, Kholat, is directly inspired by the events of this incident. If that’s not creepy enough, Sean Bean is lending his voice as narrator, making everything that much more ominous, as we all know he dies in practically every role he’s played. You can view the above trailer to get an idea of what’s in store.

Polish developers IMGN.PRO describe the game as a more exploratory, horror-laden experience that is possibly giving their own take of what “really happened” in the Dyatlov Incident. The developers tease that you can “find out what really happened” to those poor, unfortunate souls back in 1959.

Kholat launches on Steam next week, on June 9th. You can find it’s Steam page here.
