I.G.I. Origins Dev Diary Introduces the Prequel Story

I.G.I. Origins

Antimatter Games are celebrating the 21st anniversary of the I.G.I. franchise with new I.G.I. Origins dev diary, showcasing their upcoming stealth-action game.

This latest dev diary discusses a bit of information about the game’s world and the efforts the developers have made to make everything feel authentic. I.G.I. Origins is a prequel to the original game, and its storyline starts in 1979, with the rest of the missions set throughout the ’80s. The game is a Cold War era espionage thriller, and follows an ex-SAS operator named Michael King that has been recruited by MI6 for dangerous missions deep behind Soviet lines.

The story does not require prior knowledge of the series to understand, and details the creation of the original game’s super-secret Institute for Global Intelligence organization. You can find the new dev diary below.

You can find a rundown (via Steam) on the 2019-announced game below:

Go deep into the origins of the Institute for Global Intelligence, re-imagining a pioneer of the tactical first-person shooter genre, the prequel to 2000’s Project I.G.I.

You are Michael King, codenamed Regent, an ex-SAS soldier, recruited by MI6 for covert, global missions to target an enemy with a world war in their sights. Armed with a sophisticated arsenal to divert, outsmart or wipe-out your adversaries, decide your approach; ghost-like espionage or heavy firefights. Twisted actions raise questions over the true enemy and harden your resolve against a shifting, hostile world.

I.G.I. Origins is coming soon to Windows PC via Steam.
