Hyrule Warriors is Coming to the Nintendo 3DS

It seemed inevitable – Nintendo has confirmed Hyrule Warriors for the Nintendo 3DS.

Featured above, a new trailer (it’s a mirror, the original was leaked here, but is now taken down) was shown off for the handheld version of the game. As you can expect, the visuals have been downgraded a bit, to make up for the handheld’s performance in comparison to the Wii U original.

The game is called Zelda Musou: Hyrule All-Stars on the 3DS. It comes with the new playable characters Tetra from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker‘s Tetra and even the King of Hyrule! If you own the Wii U original, you’ll be able to unlock these characters in that version as well.

Further details weren’t announced, but we’ll keep you guys posted. We’re expecting a reveal at this year’s E3, next week.

I like it! Just needs to have a decent performance and I’ll pick it up, since I lack a wii U.

Awesome. I had hoped they’d port it, but I wasn’t holding my breath for one. Pleasantly surprised.

I’m not much of a musou guy but I have played Kamen Rider Battride War II and I mean, even on a PS3 that game runs like ass. Even with a far better engine and programmers I’d imagine the average musou doesn’t run all that much better considering the sheer number of enemies on screen. I’m not sure I can imagine how one would work on a 3DS all that well unless it looked like a PS1 game or something, but here’s hoping.

I have some concerns. A 1:1 port just doesn’t seem feasible what with how many enemies you have on screen at one time. Hopefully the game is good.

Of course, I still have tons of stuff I haven’t done in the original game.

Sorry to keep asking this but is it for “Nintendo 3DS” or only for “New Nintendo 3DS”?

Probably New 3DS. If anyone here remembers the Gameboy Color, it was a matter of time until we started seeing games that were incompatible with the original Gameboy’s hardware.

Why! Why can’t the Wii U keep one of it’s exclusives? But more so than that, if there going to bother porting it, then it should be exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS.

Definitely didn’t seem as inevitable as the author suggest. At least to me. I hadn’t even considered the possibility of a port.

    Why should it be exclusive?

If they were going to release it crossplatform they should have announced it when they promoted it, instead they didn’t and people probably bought a Wii U with this game in mind. At this point the only right thing to do is to make it with the New 3DS in mind to take advantage of the beefier hardware.

I think a 1:1 port or something very close to one is possible. Looking at how the dev for One Piece Unlimited Word Red just ignored the 3DS’ 3D feature and and got much better performance as a result, I think the Mosou guys can do the same. The 3DS is surprisingly powerful for what it is, not enough devs use it to its potential.

They’re a business so they probably did neglect mentioning it to boost Wii U sales. (Not judging whether it’s right or wrong.) Also it doesn’t have to be an N3DS exclusive to take advantage of the hardware.

It could run on the 3DS but have more enemies or a better framerate on the N3DS. Personally I’m hoping for 60 FPS on the N3DS from how smooth that trailer looked, but I’m doubtful.

Or we could look at the DSi which had barely anything exclusive for it.

If this was New 3DS exclusive Nintendo would probably make sure it was apparent.

That’s why it would be best for them to work with the New 3DS, it won’t be close to the original title, but better than the minimum hardware limitations of the Old 3DS. Besides if they don’t start putting out games for the New 3DS then people won’t have a reason to buy it.

the boxart they’ve shown so far is missing the new 3ds exclusive logo

its safe to assume its for the old 3ds too although this surprises me also

They can work with the New 3DS without making it exclusive. There’s no point in making it exclusive for the sake of it if it’s not necessary.

You sound like a shareholder wanting to move units, jk. I hope even if it’s not an exclusive that they take advantage of the N3DS hardware. Even if it’s not that much better.

Warriors Orochi on the PS2 ran like ass droppings. Compared to that, Battride War II was passable.

To be fair, most Musou games from the PS3 and below generally run like ass since they’re trying to cram as many enemies into the screen as they can anyway. No idea how the performance is like on the PS4 yet but I can imagine the 3DS will be slightly choppy with low graphics output.

Interesting. Not many use the 3d feature anyway.
