NIS America has confirmed they’re porting both htol#NiQ: The Firefly Diary and Criminal Girls: Invite Only to PC.

The games will release in March and April of this year, respectively.

Both games were originally released for PS Vita, with each title launching back in February of last year.

NO…FUCKING…WAY… I seriously can’t believe this. I hope they saw how poorly Mugen Souls sold because of censorship.

    Probably not.

Censorship in criminal girls, removed content or simply altered art/changed content? If its the latter there is a decent chance it can be modded. If content/scenes were just cut out though that chance goes way down.

If NISA is following in the footsteps of IFFY Intl. this will be uncensored like Monpiece because PC has no ratings board to cater to.

If not, it’ll still sell well enough to warrant the port anyway. Can’t imagine they have more than 2-3 guys working on this at a time.

  6. Para-Medic
    February 22, 2016 at 10:03 pm

We’re not even going to consider the fact that they could do the right thing and uncensor it themselves?

And inb4: “Lol NISA doing anything right” posts.

I hope it means theyll be able release the full uncensored version….

ill still get it anyways xD i dont have a vita

Bah, I dislike them so much that I can’t even be bothered to play Disgaea games anymore. They’ll have to do a lot to earn my trust back.

Im considering it, but not counting on it. Usually best that way.

I’ll be amazed if they uncensor Criminal Girls.

I still don’t even know why they even released if they were going to censor it. The actual game is pretty bad, it only really has the lewdness going for it. If you’re going to tone down that, why bother?

  11. Nin

It’s possible. In the sense that quantum mechanics theoretically could let the most seemingly bizarre phenomenon occur.

I will buy htol#NiQ again because i love it. Now, if they release the same stupid-censored version of Criminal Girls INVITATION, then fuck them.

Censorship for Mugen Souls was not that big of a deal. What was censored was incredibly shallow and pointless. What killed Mugen Souls was the fact that in terms of mechanics you were playing THREE games at the same time at least.

At this point I think NISA is in a very special class of video game companies that simply should not be trusted. Guilty till proven innocent basically.

I have literally zero interest in this game but if they actually release it completely 100% uncensored on steam, I’ll buy it day one

Although I’m not entirely familiar with the Criminal Girls story, I would guess it would have been to avoid an AO rating. I could be wrong though.

The PC version of Criminal Girls is censored. Don’t bother with it, and get Monster Monpiece instead.

Most of the stuff in there was no worse than Senran Kagura though, that was the main complaint

Ripping out an entire mini game is kinda a big deal.

  20. DizzyGear
    February 22, 2016 at 10:46 pm

Wouldn’t they have mentioned it being uncensored for the steam release right from the get go with the current climate? Especially with the whole #TorrentialDownpour hashtag going on.

My bets are on censored again.

  21. Narmy
    February 22, 2016 at 10:54 pm

They can always blame Valve like Ghostlight did with Mugen Souls if their too lazy and/or spineless to restore the content.

Cant wait for Steam cucks to buy the PC port of Disgaea 1 when it’s nothing more than an emulation of the PSP version. Heck, the screenshots even show the artifacts on characters models for a supposed “HD” version.

  27. Ultim8_Alchemist
    February 23, 2016 at 12:31 am

I actually enjoyed the game. Remember that it was a ported PSP game. I found the mechanics interesting and added a different flavour to your typical dungeon crawler. The character development/story also had a bit of depth to it. The game did require an element of strategy as well. For a game that is niche and not made with a whole lot of development funding, I thought overall enjoyable. I will admit though, that the main selling point of this game is the punishment system, so to reduce the enjoyment of this by censoring sound and images isn’t doing anyone any favours.

Spoilers: they port the censored NA version instead of the uncensored Asia release

  29. Bananalint

They removed the bath minigame. May seem pointless to you but it’s still part of the game.

They’ll never earn our trust back because they’ve made it clear they just don’t care, If they started respecting the original developers vision and localise games as they are instead of imposing their own morals maybe I’d consider following them but until then NISA can get stuffed.

    February 23, 2016 at 3:34 am

I disagree. It would get repetitive very quickly

  43. PenguinPlayer
    February 23, 2016 at 7:15 am

Depending on the way it was coded, it would be relatively easy to remove the steam and change the motivation time banner back to punishment time, but I think it will be harder add back voices and detect and undo any bullshit translations that messes up with the characterization.

Not that I have any interest in this, but it will be nice to see if the modding scene still care/are able to do such things. I’m more interested in Yomawari and how NIS will manage to fuck that up.

  44. Nonscpo
    February 23, 2016 at 7:34 am

Regardless of whether they censor it or not, I’m just curious who’ll buy this on PC? The folks who bought the Vita port got burned, so I honestly am not sure who’ll be picking this up on release!

  45. Ubrokemygrill?
    February 23, 2016 at 8:25 am

The media backlash over making a game for 18 year olds versus making a
game for 17 year olds would cause a huge hassle for NISA. We all know
that 17 year olds can’t handle bare skin, and 18 year olds that look at
bare skin are absolutely disgusting people and deserve to be mocked.

  50. Alistair
    February 23, 2016 at 6:57 pm

Yes I am curious about what excuse NISA gonna spin it that steam not require a rating I lost my email to PEGI last year they did say steam rating was self regulation.

  51. Alistair
    February 24, 2016 at 6:46 am

Well that just great NISA got a great chance to redeem themselves in our good books but Nooooo the game will be censored the same imported vita version onto PC.

So be prepared for the load of Shitstorm that will come.

It look likes Iffy (IFI) comes out of this pretty dam well & credit due they got my respect they listen to the fans & remedy it by releasing monpiece uncensored on PC.

& NISA lame excuse won’t cut it with me or others because what was put was bullshit No PC “DOES NOT REQUIRED BY LAW A AGE RATING ON STEAM GAMES ON PC”

That is the facts its up to each Dev to decide IFFY decision to put monpiece on steam proves it.

CG2.will be censored too like the 1st one remember what the head mod on NISA forums said he quoted if CG2 was released uncensored it have to get on different platform well that another lie wasn’t it the 1st getting censored on PC the 2nd can’t be any different & from the look of the game so far it more worse then CG2.

NISA is much more like Ninty with its draconian censorship.

  52. DizzyGear
    February 24, 2016 at 7:39 am

Making any changes to the pertinent content would require a re-rating,
and as a company we never want to publish an “unrated” game. We are
bringing the exact same game that we published on the Vita to the PC.

We really did have a long discussion about exactly what to do with CG on the PC. We ended up with the option that would make the most sense for us as a company right now.

Besides, there are a lot of resources currently tied up in…other things…

Called it… Too lazy and too cheap to undo the censorship.
    NISA a shit.

The ratings, man. Gotta maximize the amount of normies that’ll buy it, which is fucking zero. These idiots don’t realize that a game like Criminal girls will always have only one demographic here, and by alienating that demographic they’re losing more than they could gain.
