SNK Corporation have announced Gongsun Li from Honor of Kings will be coming to Samurai Shodown as a free DLC character.
As stated in the press release, the character comes from the mobile game Honor of Kings. After Chinese state-run media condemned the game as addictive and “poison” to young people in 2017, Tencent lost $14 billion USD in stock value.
Gongsun Li has come to Japan purportedly as a dancer, when she is actually seeking to punish those who have performed terrible deeds. Along with being able to jump incredible heights, she can make her razor-sharp parasol float in place, and teleport herself to it. You can find the full rundown on her below.
“To reasons unknown to anyone but herself, a dancer from a faraway land makes her voyage to Japan.
It is said her performance has the power to entrance and uplift the masses.
But few suspect her actual motives, which are to gather evidence against those who’s misdeeds towards the public have been kept a secret.
To the dancer, allowing ones to steal away others’ happiness is a grave sin, and she will stop at nothing for the betterment of the people.

The Gongsun Li DLC will launch August 5th, for free.
It should be noted that Honor of Kings is developed by Tencent. Tencent also owns a 40% stake in Epic Games, while Samurai Shodown is an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. Tencent and SNK Corporation have shown a strong relationship before, with Metal Slug Code: J being developed by Tencent subsidiary Timi Studio.
This is not the first crossover Samurai Shodown has done. The Warden from For Honor was revealed to be the final DLC Season 2 character in late June.
