Hololive VTuber Momosuzu Nene Celebrates Anime Voice Acting Role

Hololive VTuber Momosuzu Nene recently announced that she’s performed her first anime voice acting role; as Kerry in The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat.

Based on the clip shown below (uploaded and subtitled by a third parties from the official streaming services), it appears to be a minor role in the series. Nevertheless it’s another indicator of Hololive’s growing influence outside of the VTubing sphere.

Hololive has recently enjoyed multiple crossovers, sponsored streams, and has enjoyed relative success with their newer English and Indonesian branches.

Momosuzu Nene is a member of the fifth generation of Hololive. What’s interesting to note is that as a VTuber Nene has been credited by her “stage name” in the series credits. As such, we cannot definitively say if this is the first time someone who debuted as a VTuber went on to voice in an anime; as others may have used their “real name.”

We also cannot rule out the possibility of voice actors and actresses turning to Vtubing. Other Vtubers both east and west have expressed their desires to voice anime characters. Has this broken the barrier?

VTuber Kizuna Ai also cameo’d in Ingress the Animation voicing herself, while its English dub featured her voiced by Cristina Valenzuela (Darkness in Konosuba, Killua Zoldyck in Hunter X Hunter, Ran Mouri in Detective Conan, and more).

Hololive also got to experience an unintended first step into anime, as a background character in How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Omega looked suspiciously like Usada Pekora. This was not a licensed or approved cameo however, and the studio later apologized.
