Hoenn Mega Raid Day event details for Pokemon Go

Hoenn Mega Raid

The Hoenn Mega Raid Day Event was quietly announced for Pokemon Go and it is sooner than you might expect.

The Pokemon Go Seasons of Light is entering its next phase, Mythical Wishes. During the last phase, trainers’ primary focus was on Ultra Beasts and the  Pokemon Cosmog.

In the last update, trainers were finally able to evolve their Cosmogs and Cosmeons into Solgaleo and Lunala; on top of that, trainers were once again able to battle Giovanni for a Shadow Mewtwo.

If you have more than one Boss Radar, you can challenge Giovanni multiple times and get additional Shadow Mewtwos.

Now the Seasons of Lights enters its next stage with the Hoenn Mega Raid Day Event. So what will happen during the Hoenn Mega Raid Day Event? Read on to find out:

Hoenn Mega Raid Day Details

On Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time, the Pokemon Go Hoenn Mega Raid Day Event will take place. During the event, Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert, and Mega Blazakin will appear in Mega raids; this is the debut of these three Mega Pokemon in Pokemon Go. Defeating these three will require a team to help take these three down.

With the addition of the three Mega Hoenn Starters, that just leaves twenty (20) Mega Pokemon left to be added to Pokemon Go. Additionally, Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon have been announced for Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn in February; Will Mega Rayquazza potentially make its debut?

Here is what you can expect during the Mega Hoenn Raid day.

  • Trainers will be granted six free raid passes.
  • An increased chance of encountering a shiny Sceptile, Blazakin, or Swampert.
  • Sceptile caught during this event will know the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
  • Blaziken caught during this event will know the Charged Attack Blast Burn.
  • Swampert caught during this event will know the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon.

Trainers can also buy the Hoenn Mega Raid Day event ticket for $5.00 or its equivalent. By purchasing the ticket, all event bonuses will last from 2 PM to 10 PM on December 3rd, 2022. Purchasing the pass grants,

  • Six additional Raid passes
  • 2X Stardust from Raid Battles
  • 50% more XP from Raid Battles
  • and an increased chance to get Rare Candy XL

The Hoenn Mega Raid day event will be free to all Pokemon Go players on December 3rd. The ticketed option price seems a little high for six additional raid passes; in fact, the event ticket only offers a dollar discount compared to the normal cost of buying raid passes. It is nice that Niantic is finally bringing the beloved Hoenn Mega trio to Pokemon Go. Additionally, the Pokedex does indicate that Mega Mightyena will be coming to Pokemon Go in the near future.

Let Us Know!

Will you try to squeeze in one more Mega Houndoom or Nihlego raid before the Mega Hoenn Raid day? If not, will you be saving your passes for the event or using them for the return of Virizion or Mega Abomasnow?

For trainers who missed Mega Abomasnow this Summer or want an updated list, check out our updated Mega Abmasnow raid guide. If you are looking for Virizion counters, we will have that soon for you as well. Could December be the return of the Legendary Quartet Swords of Justice?
