Hideki Kamiya says Bayonetta 3 is Switch Exclusive, Ask Nintendo for Ports

Bayonetta 3 is Switch Exclusive

Now that Bayonetta 3 is finally getting a release in 2022, demands for non-Nintendo ports came again. We’ve learned game director Hideki Kamiya says Bayonetta 3 is Switch exclusive and that port requests should go to Nintendo.

Bayonetta 3, like Bayonetta 2, is being developed with funding from Nintendo,” Kamiya said. “We are only ‘developing’ the game, and Nintendo has all the rights to make decisions regarding the product..”

He added, “So, for example, if you want us to release the game on other consoles, please contact Nintendo… If Nintendo asks us to port the game to PS5, we may do so…”

Further, Kamiya teased fans more by alluding to the possibilities of Bayonetta 3 appearing on other platforms, much like Nintendo characters appearing on non-Nintendo platforms.

“The chances of Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 being ported to PS5 and Xbox aren’t zero.. Nintendo just has to decide,” Kamiya said. “By the same theory, the possibility that Mario and Zelda can play on PS5 etc. is not zero..”

Coming from the suggestion that Bayonetta 3 is Switch exclusive, Kamiya’s last note makes sense – badgering Nintendo on making the ports happen, but also saying to just buy a Nintendo Switch.

“Good luck and keep sending your fervent requests to Nintendo… By the way, I would buy the hardware as soon as possible.”

Bayonetta 3 was announced back in late 2017 during The Game Awards, and until this recent re-reveal, we didn’t know what the game really looked like or if it was anywhere near completion. In 2018, PlatinumGames said development was “going very, very well.”

Bayonetta 3 is launching for Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.
