We’ve gotten the first look at Masaya Games’ recently confirmed Langrisser 3DS reboot, via Famitsu.
The preview makes a note of the series first launching on the Mega Drive back in 1991, which series most westerners came to know as Warsong.
The protagonist of the Langrisser reboot is a young boy who discovers the holy sword, Excalibur, and soon sets off on a journey to rescue a girl who’s been taken from him, and to fight the imperial forces.
So far, we know that battles pan out in a 10-versus-10 strategy form.
Most fans came to love the series for Satoshi Urushihara’s character designs and box art, but most of the artwork and character designs for the new game will be by Hiroshi Kaieda.
This is the first new Langrisser game in over 15 years, with the last release being Langrisser Millennium: The Last Century on the Wonderswan, back in 1999.
Langrisser is set for a release sometime this summer in Japan.
