Henry Cavill named as Executive Producer for Warhammer film and TV

Warhammer TV series

Games Workshop has signed contracts with Amazon to begin producing TV and Film set in the Warhammer universe.

In a recent announcement, Games Workshop explained that with the contracts handled they can begin work on film and TV set in Warhammer. In order to avoid the missteps of other beloved franchises coming to Amazon, Games Workshop has assured fans that they’re working with screenwriters who are passionate Warhammer fans. Not only that, but Henry Cavill will be leading the production as Executive Producer.

Henry Cavill, who’s largely known for his acting roles as Superman and Geralt from The Witcher Netflix series is famous in nerdy spaces for being an unapologetic fan. According to some rumors, Cavill’s dedication to supporting fans led to his removal from The Witcher since he reportedly prioritized accuracy to the lore and canon over the changes Netflix’s writers wanted to make.

You can read part of the announcement from Games Workshop below.

Now comes the fun part: working out all the creative details with our partners and getting the first script written and into production. What Warhammer 40,000 stories should we tell first? Should we kick off with a movie or a TV show? Both?!

All we can tell you right now is that an elite band of screenwriters, each with their own particular passion for Warhammer, is being assembled to help bring the setting and characters you love to the screen. This illustrious group will be championed by Henry Cavill, who stands ready to take his place as executive producer – bringing his pen, sword and/or spear to the project.

A premiere date for any Warhammer film or TV series has yet to be announced, but hopefully we’ll get to see Cavill’s enthusiasm elevate whatever he works on.
