Following in the footsteps of the Portal RTX project using Nvidia’s RTX Remix toolset, Half-Life 2 RTX was revealed and is currently in development.
This may not be the Half-Life 3 fans have been waiting nearly over a decade for, but is a nice way for those fans to enjoy one of their favorite games in a new light, complete with raytracing.
Thanks to the RTX Remix tools, Half-Life 2 will be able to enjoy improved models and textures with up to 20 times the geometrical detail and 8 times the pixel count. It’ll also include the support of DLSS 3 and RTX IO.

As with Portal RTX, this new update should be free for owners when it releases in the future. The team working on this project is Orbifold Studios, who are comprised of members who have worked on Half-Life 2 VR and Project 17.
