Fans dying for more info on The Witcher 4 got a slight tease from Geralt’s voice actor, Doug Cockle, confirming the legendary hunter will be in the next game.
Details on the new Witcher game have been scant since its 2022 announcement though we have known it will start an entirely new trilogy of games in the series.
What many fans have been wondering is will they bring back Geralt in some form, since his story has essentially ended. The mainstay’s voice actor confirmed Geralt will return, in some way.
“Witcher 4 has been announced,” Cockle said in a new fan-focused video. “I can’t say anything about it. What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much, and the game won’t focus on Geralt. So it’s not about him this time. We don’t know who it’s about.”
He added another tease saying, “I’m excited to find out. I want to know! I have not seen any script yet — I mean, I couldn’t tell you if I did. This is the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth. But I’m not. Or am I?”
Since its 2022 reveal, we’ve learned The Witcher 4 won’t be an Epic Games exclusive and it will use Unreal Engine 5. Development on the new entry has been ramping up with CD Projekt enlisting over 400 developers to produce the title, hitting full scale development by mid-2024.
The only thing we really have to go on for The Witcher 4 is its original reveal and teaser image, which included what looks like a School of the Cat medallion, alongside the caption “A new saga begins.”
This medallion would seem to hint the next protagonist would likely come from that ragtag band of renegade witchers, and could even include a non-pureblood human, or a woman as they didn’t follow standard training and trials from other schools.
