Developer miHoYo has announced the release date for the next region in their wildly popular online RPG, Genshin Impact.

The third region for the game, Dragonspine, will come sometime in late December with a tentative launch date of December 23rd. This is the second of three planned updates for both this fall and winter, with their roadmap noting they have an update planned every six weeks.

Here’s the next three planned updates:

  • Version 1.1 – Estimated to arrive November 11, the Unreconciled Stars event will take place in this version.
  • Version 1.2 – Estimated to arrive December 23, this version will unveil the Dragonspine area and its related event.
  • Version 1.3 – Estimated to arrive in February 2021, the Lantern Rite event series comes with this version.

While both Ludi Harpastum and the Windbloom Festival are taking place in the first region, Mondstadt, the Lantern Rite and the Moonchase Festival will take place in the second region, Liyue. It remains unclear what in-game events or activities will be available during these events. “In future versions, we will combine the unique cultural and calendarial features of in-game regions with dates in the real world to host unique events in Mondstadt and Liyue,” MiHoYo noted.

It’s worth noting that miHoYo is also planning on releasing new characters over time, as well as new platforms to release the game on, like for next-generation consoles – however they’re not planning on an Xbox version just yet. Genshin Impact also earned over $100 million within the first two weeks since it launched.

It seems like miHoYo is really committed to listening to fan-feedback, they’re also running a feedback survey – you can find that here.

Genshin Impact is now available for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and smartphones via iOS or Android. A Nintendo Switch version is planned.
