HoYoverse have released Genshin Impact‘s massive and highly anticipated 3.0 update.
Update 3.0 “The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings” is the largest update the popular gacha action-RPG has received in some time. Update 3.0 is the next chapter in Genshin Impact‘s main story quest, and sees the Traveler arrive at Sumeru. Inspired by elements of the Middle East, Africa, and Western Asia, Sumeru is the next region players will get to explore in the game, and it’s absolutely massive.
Sumeru is the domain of the Dendro Archon, and its people pride themselves on the pursuit of wisdom and knowledge. The nation’s governing body, the Akademiya, treat knowledge and scientific discovery almost like a currency or resource, and many of Teyvat’s best scholars and researchers travel to Sumeru to attend its prestigious universities.
The region is divided into two main areas: lush tropical rainforests full of exotic flora and fauna, and scorching deserts that hide the remains of ancient civilizations. Travelers will encounter loads of new enemies, allies, gameplay mechanics, and quests as they make their way through this new region. There will be new bosses dropping unique upgrade materials for new characters, new domains for the Sumeru characters’ talent upgrade materials, a new set of weapon blueprints, two new artifact sets, many hundreds of chests to open, and much, much more.
You can find a trailer showcasing Sumeru below.
Seeing as how Sumeru is the land of Dendro, 3.0 also means that Genshin Impact will finally get playable Dendro characters. Dendro will be the 4th element the Traveler can now swap between, and like with previous regions, there will be loads of puzzles and mechanics that require this new element to overcome.
The first character banner of 3.0 includes the first playable Sumeru characters. Tighnari is a 5-star Dendro archer that patrols the verdant rainforests of Sumeru, studying its many unique animals and plant life.
He is joined by Collei, a new 4-star character that is also a Dendro archer, and is actually Tighnari’s pupil. Another new character, the 4-star Electro support character Dori, will be coming later on in the update.
You can find a pair of new trailers showing off Tighnari and Collei below.
Tighnari and Collei will be two of the characters in the first set of 3.0 banners, which also feature increased pull rates for Diona and Fischl. Alternatively, players can instead wish for Zhongli, who has returned in another rerun banner.
These new character banners will run alongside an Epitome Invocation weapon banner that features the new 5-star bow Hunter’s Path, which is Tighnari’s signature weapon. Other weapons in the banner are the 5-star spear Vortex Vanquisher, and the 4-star weapons Favonius Sword, The Bell, Favonius Lance, Favonius Codex, and The Stringless.
Genshin Impact is available and free-to-play on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store and official website), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and coming soon to Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our Genshin Impact review here (we recommend it!).
