Developer Turn 10 have announced that they will be shutting down the servers to Forza Horizon 1 and 2 this summer.

Both racing games will have their online multiplayer shut down on August 22, 2023. While the games have already been delisted for years, those who owned the games will lose access to multiplayer features.

These lost features include matchmaking, leaderboards and the browsing and downloading of online User Generated Content (UGC) including liveries, vinyls, tuning setups, and photos.

The primary reason for shutting down the online servers are due to the small player population, as likely most have moved on to newer titles such as Forza Horizon 4 and 5. They also confirmed that 4 and 3 will continue to have their servers running for the foreseeable future.

While they may have a small player population, this is still disappointing news for those who have continued to enjoy the online features for these games after all these years. Fortunately, they’ll still be able to play the single player.

Meanwhile, the most recent in the franchise, Forza Horizon 5, is across Windows PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is also available for Xbox Game Pass for PC, cloud, and consoles.
