After the news of Embracer Group shuttering Piranha Bytes, the former creative lead for the studio has launched a new studio in the wake of its reported closure.

Former creative lead at Piranha Bytes Björn Pankratz, alongside his wife have announced a new indie studio called Pithead Studio. Here’s a video for the announcement:

Despite the timing of the announcement, it appears to be unrelated to the reports of Piranha Bytes shutting down, as the couple left the company back at the end of last year.

Björn Pankratz served at the company since 1999 and his credits include titles on their popular titles such as Gothic, Risen, and Elex. Jenny Pankratz worked with them since 2008 as a game and story designer.
