No Man’s Sky, the game that stole the show at the somewhat embarrassing VGX awards, has finally gotten some more concrete info. Alright, I know the game was only revealed last Saturday, but many fans have been wanting to know more about the ambitious title (including myself).
Here’s a collection of vital information from various previews:
- Everyone plays on one single universe.
- If you can see a place in the distance, whether it be a mountain or a planet, it’s a real place you can go to.
- Actual gameplay consists of space battles, first person combat land combat, and resource gathering. Instead of focusing on one thing, the game is not really about any of the aforementioned things specifically.
- Changes you’ve made to planets or environments can be seen long after by other players visiting that area.
- The focus of the game is the thrill of exploration and discovery, like classic science fiction.
- Everyone shares the same map – the discovery of new planets and information may be withheld from players who have not seen or learned of such things.
- All players begin the game in the outer reaches of the universe, and are encouraged to progress to the center of the universe.
- The world in No Man’s Sky is not ambient in nature, there is combat – a lot of it in fact.
- Platforms and release date are not confirmed at all – the only things mentioned were “running off the shelf high end PCs and running of a next-gen console.”
- The trailer is not reflective of the game’s development, it’s actually further along than the trailer will make you think.
