We’ve learned that Final Fantasy XIII saga director, Motomu Toriyama, is going to reveal a brand new game soon.

The news comes via an interview between Toriyama-san and Dengeki Playstation, as they’re currently holding 20th anniversary Playstation interviews with developers across various games, developers, and publishers.

“We’re making preparations to reveal a brand new game” said Toriyama in the Dengeki interview. It’s worth mentioning that Square Enix president, Yosuke Matsuda, mentioned that a brand new console RPG would be revealed by the company later this month.

Could this be that very same game? We’ll keep you guys posted.

This is in no way good news.

Well, unless you liked the XIII series.

This is the guy who killed the Front Mission series, Persona series and made the worst FF game.

What series is he going to kill next? And please no more Lightning.

Staring Lightning and clones of Lightning in different costumes for extra Lightning.

Not quite sure that qualifies as a ‘brand new game’ even in SE’s eyes. :P

But that’ll happen; just wait until the entire series it out on the PC and they’ll release the trilogy for the PS4. :)

A new, mysterious character named ‘Thunder’ will be the lead, but in a dramatic reveal, a dozen hours into the gameplay so the reviewers will never get to it before they publish their reviews, it’ll be revealed that ‘Thunder’ is actually ‘Lightning’ and half the SaGa’s fanbase will spontaneously combust.

With a guy like him on board, it’s for the best that the Chrono series isn’t seeing a revival. Chrono Cross left off with enough mixed feelings (mostly for not being the sequel everyone was expecting, and I guess the extraneously large character roster), but one can only imagine what the series would be like with Squenix in its current state.

This is the same guy who had FF13 in development for 5 years and didn’t have a single playable build of it until he had to make a demo disc for Advent Children…

Why do Square keep trusting this guy? Earth to Square, you don’t have anymore good will to use up.
