Square Enix has shared the Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis opening movie clip, showing off more of the February 2021-announced game.
The new Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis opening movie clip was premiered during the Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier’s first official livestream, which was held in celebration of the Final Fantasy VII 25th anniversary – which is today.
Here’s the clip:
In our previous coverage, we learned Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is an episodic, free-to-play retelling of the original events from Final Fantasy VII, only with a nostalgic twist and in-game visuals reminiscent of the original game. While the chapters will be free to play, weapons will be obtained via a gacha (lottery) system, and you can earn special weapons and costumes not seen in the original game.
Square Enix is on a roll with lots of stuff to celebrate the classic JRPG’s big anniversary. In case you missed it, core staff on the original Final Fantasy VII and the Final Fantasy VII Remake shared messages to celebrate the new anniversary – read more about that here in our other report. The 25th anniversary logo was also revealed this week.
The original Final Fantasy VII was released back on January 31st, 1997 in Japan for the PlayStation. Its remake, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been available since June 2021 on PlayStation 5 and the original Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on PlayStation 4. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the remake here and Intergrade here, and our port report on the PC version here.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is launching for both iOS and Android devices sometime in 2022.
