
Originally announced way back in 2021, the long-awaited Final Fantasy IX animated series is actually in production now and has an official title.
The new Final Fantasy IX animated series has been revealed (via RPGSite) to be in production at French studio EuroVisual, and will run for 10 episodes with each running 22 minutes in length.
Furthermore, the official title for the new series is Final Fantasy: Black Mages Legacy, news confirmed the above teaser artwork that gives us a first look at the series.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Imel, Koln, Luciola, Théa, Fala and Doc, children of the hero Bibi, are the last dark mages of the four continents. Today, they live happily in the city of ALEXANDRIA, guarded by its inhabitants who are rather friendly, although sometimes very curious. Unfortunately, this peaceful existence was not meant to last… One day, Koln discovers Mel, frozen like a statue, in the inn where he works. Could it be the tragic legacy of their father catching up with them?
