Farcana Launches First Playtest with $30k Bitcoin Prize Pool

The groundbreaking GameFi project Farcana is launching a 4-day playtest, showcasing its Dubai-developed PvP shooter to a broader audience for the first time. Playtest participants will have a chance to explore the terraformed but hostile Mars, challenge other players in engaging 4×4 arena battles, leverage the diverse skill sets of a rich cast of characters, and compete for shares of the Bitcoin-backed prize pool valued at $30,000.

The event will take place from June 22 to June 25, with additional coverage at the Dubai Esports & Games Festival. According to Farcana’s team, the playtest will gather preliminary feedback, break Web2 gamer apprehension towards GameFi with seamless onboarding and AAA graphics, and begin building a loyal community of supporters. All playtest contributors will get a free NFT skin.

About Farcana

Farcana is a skill-based multiplayer third-person shooter set on Mars in the year 2073. The game sets a new standard with its innovative approach to GameFi and reimagining traditional PvP conventions. The game emphasizes gameplay versatility, discarding the conventional “carry-support” framework in favor of new roles. This new approach allows all team members to be a ‘main character’ and fine-tune their ability sets and load-outs to reach in-game tactical goals.

By harnessing the cutting-edge graphical capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, Farcana breaks the stereotypical image of a Web3 game, instead looking and feeling like an industry-standard AAA title. Besides the high-quality visuals that ensure immersion into the game’s vivid lore, Farcana’s on-stop game launcher allows for seamless onboarding of Web2 players with an automatically created dashboard and wallet.

Another direction in which Farcana sets trends is developing a stable Web3 economy. Unlike most GameFi projects that reward players with native tokens with close-to-unlimited supply and little inherent utility, Farcana offers tokenized game assets based on true ownership that will have value on the market.

Recognizing the importance of esports for player engagement, competitive leagues with monetary rewards will be central to Farcana’s game model. The game will feature an array of seasonal tournaments for amateurs and professionals alike and integrate these leagues into the game’s lore. The prize pools are financed by the redistributed profits from seasonal battle passes and skin sales.

First Playtest Launch

Gamers worldwide will have an opportunity to participate in Farcana’s initial playtest. Each day, the top 7% of players will share part of the Bitcoin-backed prize pool, and all participants will get a unique NFT skin to use in the game or sell on Farcana’s marketplace after the game’s launch.

The test launch will stress-test the game mechanics, collect user feedback for experience improvement, and attract a community of active, long-term contributors. Although the project has only been in development for five months, almost 10,000 gamers have registered for Farcana’s playtest. Registration is still open.

Preparing for the Big Launch

Farcana has been deep in development throughout the winter. While there is still a long road to reach an early access release in February 2024, the upcoming playtest marks the first time Farcana will be available to gamers.

“We’ve created a fantastic product and are starting to test it with players, as well as build our community,” said Farcana CEO & Founder Ilman Shazhaev. “During this playtest, we will host a tournament to hone our game mechanics.”

Playtest feedback and data will help Farcana’s developers locate bugs and fine-tune mechanics to clear the path for the project’s next stage — the “everything app” concept for gaming, trading, communication, and asset management on the Farcana platform.

“The game is already tailored for the mass market and allows our players to log in and open wallets natively,” said Shazhaev. “We’ll be adding more functionality soon, such as a marketplace where people can buy and sell their in-game assets. We’re excited and eagerly awaiting the launch.”

Visit the playtest page to register, and follow Farcana’s Twitter for up-to-date news about the project.
