Fans Managed to Get Warhawk Servers Back Online

The 2007-released, online-only PlayStation 3 game Warhawk was sadly shut down in January of last year, however fans have managed to get the game back online.

The fan project, PSONE (PlayStation Online Emulated), currently has the Warhawk servers in closed beta, but they’re hoping to do a full public release shortly.

The clever workaround is simply configuring your PS3’s local DNS settings to their server’s IP address. That’s it! Once you’re authenticated you can launch Warhawk and play like it’s still 2007!

Warhawk took a classic PlayStation One game of the same name and boldly recreated it within a large, online-only world.

As the game was added to and patched over the years, it garnered quite a hardcore following – with some players really dedicating tons of time to learning the advanced aerial techniques.

The game had quite the run, but unfortunately like most online-focused games, had its servers shuttered 11 years later.

PSONE is hoping to also offer online multiplayer for other shuttered Sony games like WipeOut, PlayStation Home, and even SOCOM Confrontation.

Here’s a video of the setup, as well as the game running online again:
