Fallout 76 Update 1.14 Update Released, Fixes Speed Hacks and Enables Unlocked Framerate

Bethesda has released an update for Fallout 76 that addresses a number of issues and some feature requests.

The new update – version 1.0.1.8 on Xbox One, 1.0.1.9 on PlayStation 4, and 1.0.1.14 on PC – brings a number of stability improvements across all platforms, as well as fixes for the servers.

The more noticeable addition with the update is the game’s framerate is finally unlocked, meaning you can play the game at 200+ frames per second and not worry about the game literally falling apart.

This has been an issue for roughly a decade as Bethesda has been using this engine since Fallout 3 – unlocking the framerate would mess up physics, movement acceleration, and even AI. Furthermore, this removes the risk of players cheating by literally speedhacking, which they could previously do simply by unlocking the framerate.

In terms of other promised updates and features, Bethesda has confirmed the game will get a FOV slider, which you can currently only do by editing more source files.

Fallout 76 is now available for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In case you missed it – you can find our very thorough review for the game here.
