While Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair Gets a Switch Port in 2022, the game was originally released for PlayStation 4 in Japan back in 2015.

A western release for the game followed with a December release in the same year for North America and early 2016 for Europe. Lastly, a Windows PC (via Steam) version was released in 2016 worldwide.

Here’s a rundown on the game:

We knew they were coming. We did all we could to prepare. But they still set the world on fire.

Ravagers, we called them. The world’s militaries fought them with everything they had, but in the end, only one force stood a chance: The EDF, a coalition of humanity’s greatest soldiers and scientists. Finally, we shot down their mothership and brought peace to the world…

It’s a fight for the future of the planet between the Ravagers, a merciless swarm of alien invaders, and the Earth Defense Force (EDF) in this third-person shooter.

The most overwhelmingly numerous forces of Ravagers the series has ever seen will take the EDF fighters to the depths of despair and back! Online co-op play supported.
