Wizards of the Coast have shared the first trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at SDCC 2022.
The new trailer gives us the first look at the main cast, which includes a star-studded roster:
The trailer does not do anything special and instead bathes in the chaos that Honor Among Thieves is your average Dungeons & Dragons adventure.
Based on this trailer, if you were to tell me it was based on a real Dungeons & Dragons campaign.. the action, energy, and mayhem alone would convince me.
The film will follow a gang of thieves working together to steal an object that they may or may not have accidently been handed over the biggest villain in the world.
So far, the cast of characters are what appeal to me the most, Chris Pine playing a Bard who’s plans never work out, reminds me of my very own Ska-themed Bard, Grok Rockstomper.
And I will also support female dwarves in my fantasy adventures. So far, the trailer does not have me wow’ed or dying to go to the theaters. Perhaps it was the cliche use of Led Zepplin’s Whole Lotta Love, or just the lack of focus in the trailer.
I did see many nods that show that the team working on this film have paid attention to the details: black dragons, owlbears, mimics – what more can a D&D fan ask for? A good plot hopefully.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set to premiere on March 3, 2023.
