Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie title announced

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Wizards of the Coast announced the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie title during last week’s Dungeons & Dragons livestream. That’s right – Wizards of the Coast are attempting to bring Dungeons & Dragons to the big screen again.

The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie title should not to be confused with the much more popular video game Uncharted 2: Honor Among Thieves, a videogame franchise that also recently had a movie adaptation.

Similar names aside, the Dungeons & Dragons movie will be written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein who recently worked on the mildly funny comedy “Date Night”, and will star Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, Sophia Lillis, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, and Regé-Jean Page. With a release date of March 3, 2023.

The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie was originally meant to release in 2022, however, the COVID-19 situation pushed the film into uncertainty.

Dungeons & Dragons movies have had a bit of a checkered past historically, with a trilogy of movies released in the early 2000’s bombing at the box office (pictured above). However, when asked about filming the movie, lead actor Chris Pine said the new adaptation is promising.

“Oh man. Well, what I will say is we had a hell of a fun time making it. There was a lot of laughs. The way that I’ve been describing it, it’s like Game of Thrones mixed with a little Princess Bride, just a smidge of Holy Grail; it’s somewhere in that ballpark. It’s a lot of fun. It’s got a lot of thrills,” Pine said via Collider.

He added, “It’s poppy, it’s eighties heartfelt, there’s a bit of Goonies in there. My character, he’s the ultimate party planner. I think it’s going to be really good. I mean, who fucking knows, but I think we got a good shot and John and John are killer guys. They know comedy and they know heart and we had a great cast and we had a good time making it. And that’s all you can ask for.”
