DrDisrespect settled his lawsuit with Twitch but isn’t returning to the platform

DrDisrespect settled his lawsuit with Twitch

Following a legal battle over getting mysteriously banned from the platform, popular streamer DrDisrespect settled his lawsuit with Twitch. What’s more – he’s not returning to the platform.

“I have resolved my legal dispute with Twitch,” Dr Disrespect said on Twitter. “No party admits to any wrongdoing.”

Fans were naturally quick to ask what the heck is actually going on, and if he would return to the platform – to which DrDisrespect obliged by saying “in response to all your questions, the Doc will not return to Twitch.”

Guy Beahm, better known as his alias DrDisrespect, got permanently suspended from Twitch with no discernable reason back in summer 2020. A year later, he confirmed he’s “suing the fuck out of ’em”, and thus the legal battle began.

The Doc’s lawsuit alleged that the loss of his popular Twitch channel not only impacted him financially, but damaged his reputation as well. While further details from the settlement aren’t public (and likely never will be), Twitch also confirmed the amicable settlement with near-identical phrasing.

“Dr Disrespect and Twitch have resolved their legal dispute. No party admits to any wrongdoing,” reads the statement (via PC Gamer). The most burning question remains – why did DrDisrespect get banned in the first place? Perhaps we’ll never know.

While DrDisrespect is still a big presence on YouTube with just shy of 3.8 million subscribers, he’s also returned to game development (prior to becoming a streamer he was at Sledgehammer Games) with his new studio, Midnight Society.
