Shout Factory’s recently announced Dragonheart 4K remaster has finally confirmed its offerings ahead of its release next month.
The classic fantasy action film will be presented in a full 4K restoration from scans of the original camera negatives, and will fully support Dolby Vision with HDR 10.
However, some fans are immediately disappointed in the lack of a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X audio track for a full 3D audioscape.
Instead, the 4K release comes with a lossless DTS-HD 5.1 audio mix.
Here’s what fans can expect in the new 4K remaster:
DISC ONE (4K UHD):
- NEW 4K Restoration From A Scan Of The Original Camera Negative
- In Dolby Vision (HDR 10 Compatible)
- Audio: DTS-HD MA 5.1
- Audio Commentary With Director Rob Cohen
DISC TWO (BLU-RAY):
- NEW 4K Restoration From A Scan Of The Original Camera Negative
- Audio: DTS-HD MA 5.1
- Audio Commentary With Director Rob Cohen
- “The Making of Dragonheart”
- Outtakes
- Theatrical Trailers
An earlier European release for the film’s 4K remaster apparently has a full Dolby Atmos audio track, so it’ll be interesting to compare the two mixes.
Dragonheart is launching on February 28th, 2023 at Amazon and other participating retailers.
