Although it’s rather polarizing due to the new FPS conventions it adds to what many consider an already perfect game, the Brutal DOOM mod is one of the most popular modifications available for iD’s classic shooter. Speaking as someone who loves it myself (And regularly plays it to relieve stress), I find it impossible to go back to the vanilla version of the game. Adding severe gore, new weapons, fatality moves, dismemberment, iron sights, Duke Nukem-esque taunts, AI controlled marine partners and other such ludicrous modern features, Brutal DOOM has gained a lot of attention since its initial release in 2012.
Today, a trailer for the new version of the popular mod has surfaced, complete with all the gibs and rocket blasts you’d expect.
This new update adds ragdoll physics to the game, as well as more sticky gore dripping from the ceilings and walls, guaranteeing you’ll never again be caught saying “I like DOOM, but it’s not bloody enough”. Plus, the idea of ripping a zombie’s spine out and then using his head as a weapon against other zombies is the kind of thing I logically always wanted to do, but couldn’t. Kudos to the mod community that made that happen.
Sergeant Mark has stated that the mod will suffer no more delays and that you will be dual-wielding assault rifles no later than this June 5th.
