Nearly a year after launching the service, Discord has announced they’re dropping their Nitro Games library of games.
The company is ending their storefront, saying they will not be renewing their contracts with the developers that have been selling games on the storefront. Discord noted very few users actually used the feature.
“We learned a lot from all of you over the last year,” the company said in a blog post. “Through your valuable feedback, it became clear that while we and some of you love these games, the truth is the vast majority of Nitro subscribers didn’t play them.”
Their library of games included titles like Torchlight 2, Soma, Inside, Shadow Tactics, and more when it first launched, and grew to include a number of games – many of which had heavy discounts or were free with a subscription. If you subscribed to Discord Nitro, you will be eligible for a refund if you want to cancel because of the upcoming change.
If you’re a subscriber you’ll be able to play the full library until October 15th, at which point the feature will be removed. Games purchased from the Discord store and through Nitro Game Perks are unaffected.
Discord noted that cutting the library feature will free up their own resources so they can keep improving the Discord platform itself.
