Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition Producer Matt Walker has confirmed the game will introduce local co-op to the Bloody Palace mode.
Walker took to Twitter, to explain the new feature coming to the Bloody Palace.
“Bloody Palace Now has local co-op! So now you’ll be able to play as Dante and Vergil- two players- it’s kinda like if you’ve played Devil May Cry 3 SE before in the Doppleganger Style, there was kinda a hidden Easter Egg where you could pick up a second controler, and play it as two-player.
Now in this one, it’s not Doppleganger, it’s actually Dante and Vergil- separately. And you’ll be able to use any kind of different combination of single Joy-Con, or double Joy-Cons, or pro cons [Pro Controllers].”
The mode can be accessed once players clear the game’s intro mission, and players can select different save data for Dante and Vergil, as well as individual controller set-ups for each player’s controller.

Set before the events of the original Devil May Cry, this action classic sees Dante facing off against his twin brother, Vergil, who has designs on unlocking a gate to the demonic realm, to which Dante himself holds the key… Featuring selectable combat styles such as Swordmaster and Gunslinger, Devil May Cry 3 brings an extra level of strategy to the series’ renowned stylish gameplay.
This edition includes all of the Special Edition content, including the ability to play as Vergil, and even includes extra bonus features exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
In earlier news, it was announced the game would have Style Switching (first introduced in Devil May Cry 4, the Free Style lets players use multiple styles at once ), and Weapon Switching (rather than two weapons and two guns, players can use any of their weapons and guns in Free Style).
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition launches February 20th on Nintendo Switch.
