Death Stranding live-action movie

Hot on the heels of Death Stranding 2 being announced, Kojima Productions has announced a Death Stranding live-action movie.

The new live-action film adaptation is being produced by Kojima Productions and Kojima himself, with Hammerstone Studios and Barbarian executive producer Alex Lebovici financing the Death Stranding live-action movie. Allan Ungar will executive produce.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” Hideo Kojima said. “This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.”

Lebovici added, “We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to partner with brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation. Unlike other big budget tentpole video game adaptations, this will be something far more intimate and grounded.

“Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic “Hideo Kojima” production.”

The plot for the Death Stranding live-action movie is being tightly kept secret, but will “introduce new elements and characters” from within the game’s universe.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut has been available for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) and PS5. The original game is available on Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and PlayStation 4. If you missed it, you can find our review here.
