Dead Island 2 launched back on Friday and already has seen solid success financially. Deep Silver have announced the long delayed zombie slasher title reached over one million sales over the weekend.
Dead Island 2 was just released on April 21st, 2023 for Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
They also revealed other statistics like the game already has 11 million hours played, an average of 11 hours per players. Furthermore, the game has also seen over 1 billion zombies slayed compared to 28 million player deaths.
Fun statistics aside, Deep Silver can be glad Dead Island 2 is doing as well as it has. The game saw a troubled development cycle, with three different developers working on it over the years.
These likely incurred many costs, so the rate of sales is encouraging and depending on what the actual cost ended up being, will likely end up leading to a profit for the people involved.
