Daily Mail gets backlash after covering Made in Abyss K-Pop singer fiasco

Daily Mail

News website Daily Mail covered the fiasco regarding a K-Pop singer liking the anime Made in Abyss, and Twitter users were quick to criticize the website.

K-Pop singer “Woozi” was recently attacked by his so-called fans for recommending the anime Made in Abyss to “young fans” (which he did not, he merely listed it as a show he watched recently), due to there being moments in the show where younger characters are subjected to torment and suffering, however, the series is not entirely focused on that subject.

The matter was so large and widespread that even non-anime websites such as Daily Mail covered it, and Twitter users felt the article (as well as the K-Pop fans angry at Woozi and other K-Pop singers who praised the anime) misrepresented the anime by claiming it is just “child abuse” and nothing else:

The post was also criticized for saying the singer “promoted” the anime, when they didn’t.

In about 3 days, the Twitter post gained over 1 million views, easily one of the Daily Mail’s highest-performing posts in a while.
