Crunchyroll app is now available for Switch

The Crunchyroll app is now available for Switch, the anime-localizing and streaming service announced this week.

Crunchyroll is now available for the eShop in both North America and Europe, and like its other releases, fans will be able to watch anime for free or with its ad-free, premium tiers.

The free access will have ads, however if you pony up for its premium tiers they run $7.99 for the Fan tier, $9.99 for the Mega Fan tier, and $14.99 for the Ultimate Fan tier. Only the Mega and Ultimate Fan tiers will get you offline download and viewing access, however.

While the Crunchyroll app is now available for Switch, this is actually the second anime-streaming app to appear on the Switch. The Funimation app was also released for Switch back in December 2020, but since Sony now owns both anime-streaming companies, it’s kind of silly.

Other content streaming apps on the Switch include the mostly western-media content platform Hulu, and the dark void that is YouTube.

In related recent news, Xbox Game Pass subscribers were also given a free trial to the premium tier of Crunchyroll’s service – read more about that here in our other report.
