Throwback survival horror game Crow Country launches in May

Crow Country

Indie developer SFB Games has announced a release date for Crow Country, their promising looking throwback survival horror game.

Crow Country is launching on May 9th for Windows PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 5. Intrigued horror fans can still check out the game’s playable demo, too.

The new 90s-era survival horror game will bring a rich and palpable atmosphere for its hand-crafted, tangible locales that feel dank as they are dark.

Set in the rural outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia, the game’s story follows the disappearance of Edward Crow, the owner of the titular and small theme park “Crow Country.” The main story will also have themes of reckless human greed and “the idea of an unforgiveable sin.”

Crow disappeared after his theme park suddenly shut down, prompting the protagonist Mara Forest to investigate by venturing into the mysterious and abandoned theme park. As players explore the theme park and unlock new areas, they’ll backtrack and discover more clues as to why Edward vanished.

While the mystery of Crow’s disappearance is the core of the survival horror game, there’s also other teased mysteries like just who is the protagonist, Mara? There’s also supposed disturbing rumors behind the theme park.

The main way to play this game is in the standard difficulty / game mode in which you seemingly can and will die to various nightmarish creatures – however there’s also an “Exploration Mode” for corporate game journalists that don’t like challenge in life.

It remains to be seen just how big the Crow Country theme park really is but SFB Games makes it clear “something is awfully wrong” in the park. The screenshots and gameplay footage definitely give off that vibe.

Here’s a new trailer for the game to celebrate its new release date:
