Court denies FTC, allowing Microsoft and Activision deal to go ahead at any moment

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has denied the FTC request to delay the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft.

The FTC filed an emergency motion last Friday asking that to be “allow the Court time to consider whether the FTC’s appeal is meritorious”. The court has seemingly given their decision and upheld Judge Corley’s decision.

The ninth circuit court of appeals offered a simple (at least as simple as court documents get) one page response flatly denying the FTC motion.

As far as we can tell, the deal can go forward pending negotiations with the UK’s Competition and Market Authority (CMA); and even then it could go ahead without them.
