Compile Heart shared new details and the opening movie for Code: Villion, their new school JRPG made with Megami Tensei co-creator Kouji Okada.
The new details showcase some of the game’s core mechanics like Skill Switch and RUSH. Four previews for game background music (1, 2, 3, 4) were also shared alongside the opening movie.
Here’s a rundown on the previously announced game, plus the new opening movie:
Skill Switch
During battle, you can use your allies’ skill gauge to activate their mutation skills. After activating a skill, the controlled character will change to the character who activated the skill, and you can control the allied character in battle.
RUSH
Hitting a stunned enemy with a specific attack or mutation skill will activate “RUSH.” During RUSH, you can activate your allies’ mutation skills and the protagonist’s RUSH skill without consuming the skill gauge. By coordinating with your allies and activating skills consecutively, you can deal massive damage.
Returning from an outside defeat
At this time, a button input will be displayed, and if you input it successfully, you will “return” from outside the arena, avoiding being unable to fight due to being defeated outside the arena. The higher your teammates’ favorability, the easier it will be to input and the more likely you will be able to return.
Stun & Attribute Release
By dealing damage to enemies together with your allies, you can build up a gauge and trigger “Stun” and “Attribute Release.” During “Stun,” you can deal large amounts of damage, and “Attribute Release” will activate special effects according to the attribute. The protagonist’s “Awareness” attribute is extremely powerful, allowing him to stop time for a short period of time.
Villion: Code is set to launch on June 25th, 2026 in Japan for Switch, Switch 2, PS4, and PS5.
