Chuck E. Cheese has announced plans to open multiple arcades for adults, the new stores called “Chuck’s Arcade” will celebrate the company’s history.
Chuck’s Arcade plans to appeal to the nostalgia of Millenials and Gen X, including historical displays but also bringing back the old animatronics to “supervise” the new locations. Many Chuck E. Cheese locations pivoted to digital displays instead of the old school robot band.
The new locations will have classic games, like Donkey Kong, Skeeball, etc as well as newer and more adult titles like arcade versions of Halo. Some locations will even have beer and wine on offer.
Arcades have remained relatively popular in Japan, relying on unique experiences like rhythm games to entertain guests. Meanwhile, claw machines keep players coming by regularly cycling in new prizes like anime figurines and exclusive plushies. Gone are the days of getting a super cheap carnival plush for all your hard work.
In a press release, Chuck E. Cheese explained their vision for the new locations, saying:
The arcade was created for adults and lifelong fans who grew up surrounded by the electric glow of arcade screens, the symphony of digital soundtracks and the thrill of chasing high scores with friends long into the night. Chuck’s Arcade™ is a modern-day love letter to the games and people who made Chuck E. Cheese great…
Chuck’s Arcade™ locations are now open in major malls across the country including in St. Petersburg, Florida; Trumbull, Connecticut; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma; Victor, New York; Buford, Georgia; El Paso, Texas; Nashua and Salem, New Hampshire; and St. Louis — with more locations on the horizon.
If there’s no Chuck’s Arcade in your area, Japanese company Round One has expanded operations inside the US over recent years.
