Capcom have announced [1, 2] their Q1 2021 Financial Results; having the highest first quarter net income and profit in their history
The three months ending June 30th, 2021 have seen Capcom’s net sales hit ¥48.4 billion JPY (est. $441 million USD); a 104.1% year-over-year increase. Likewise, net income has risen to ¥17.349 billion JPY (est. $158 million USD); a 121.9% increase.
13.3 million video games were sold over the quarter (a 44.6% increase); with Capcom noting their “core Digital Contents business drove business results through its continued pursuit of digital sales growth.” This included the launches of Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise.
The reports emphasized the recent sales figure announcements; including Resident Evil Village selling 4.5 million units worldwide. While Monster Hunter Rise was only noted as “[continuing] to see growth in sales volume thanks to its enduring popularity,” it was recently announced to have sold over seven million units worldwide.
Other recent sales figures include Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin selling over 1 million units globally just over a week from launch. In a triple-packed announcement, Capcom also previously stated Monster Hunter: World sold 17.1 million units, the Iceborne expansion 7.7 million units, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard 9 million units.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard also became (as of March 31st) Capcom’s second best seller overall, and best-selling Resident Evil title.
