A dataminer for Call of Duty: Vanguard has discovered what may be an upcoming Attack on Titan crossover.
“Nanikos” tweeted their findings from the game’s memory dumps; featuring mention of “swordtitan” and the “aot_titan” operator. Nanikos speculates the crossover would be implemented in December if true, though it bears mentioning there is a chance this could be leftover code from a crossover that never manifested.
Attack on Titan follows Eren Yeager and others, who live in an isolated nation that’s plagued by powerful monsters known only as Titans.
The Titans force Eren’s people to live behind massive walls in order to protect themselves, but the appearance of a gigantic titan that overshadows the wall results in the death of Eren’s parents. This encourages him to join the Scout Regiment that goes beyond the walls to fight the Titans. Soon he and his friends will learn far more about the Titans, and the dark secrets in their shadows.
Titans also notably can only be killed by slashing the nape of their neck- essentially severing their entire nervous system from their brain. If the crossover manifests, does the above code suggest players will have special operators to combat them? Will players have access to blades, or even vehicles like the Omni-directional mobility gear to get up close to the beasts?
Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on Windows PC (via Battle.net), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
