The fifth Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game is a Modern Warfare 2 reboot

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reboot

Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward have announced a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reboot.

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reboot was revealed alongside the above logo – that’s basically all we have to go on for now.

It’s worth noting this is the fifth game in the Modern Warfare subseries, and while the Modern Warfare 2 reboot is confusingly titled the same as the legendary 2009 game of the same name, it’s an entirely new title as previously teased.

The previous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release is a reboot of the original Modern Warfare, and was released in 2019 for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It was the most recent game in the franchise developed by Infinity Ward.

The latest game in the franchise, the Sledgehammer Games-developed Call of Duty: Vanguard, was released later in 2021 for Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the game here.
