Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sequel and a new Warzone experience

Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward announced  a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sequel and a new Warzone experience are launching in 2022.

While both a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sequel and a new Warzone release are coming sometime this year, they’re both “designed together from the ground up” and development is being led by Infinity Ward. Furthermore, the games are being built within a new engine.

Details remain scant but Activision teases the new Call of Duty: Warzone experience will bring “a massive evolution of Battle Royale with an all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode.”

Further information wasn’t shared – but we’ll keep you guys posted.

The previous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release is a reboot of the original Modern Warfare, and was released in 2019 for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It was the most recent game in the franchise developed by Infinity Ward.

The latest game in the franchise, the Sledgehammer Games-developed Call of Duty: Vanguard, was released later in 2021 for Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the game here.
