The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild “The Champion’s Ballad” DLC Detailed, Available Now

Nintendo has fully detailed the second and final expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The new expansion, The Champion’s Ballad, focuses on the four champions of the base game, expanding their story while adding new challenges.

While details are still vague, it will officially be available to download for Expansion Pass holders tonight.

Here’s a rundown on the new content:

In this second of two DLC packs that are part of the game’s Expansion Pass, players are granted access to a large new adventure featuring a never-before-seen dungeon, new insights into the background of the game’s four Champions, as well as a new high-mobility means of transportation. Once players complete the adventure, they will have the opportunity to traverse the enormous world of Hyrule on top of a motorcycle called Master Cycle Zero. The DLC will also grant access to nine new armor items for players to find, as well as the Ancient Saddle and Bridle items. Players who purchase the Expansion Pass for $19.99 receive The Champions’ Ballad DLC Pack 2, as well as The Trial of the Sword DLC Pack 1, which launched earlier this year.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently available for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough video and written review for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild here.

Looks like it’ll be another mechanical dungeon. I was hoping for something a bit different, but oh well.

Meh, not really drawing me in, the footprint thing from the first dlc looked cool though.

But.. What does it add? Just a dungeon and movie clips? ;o

Apparently a motorcycle, as seen at the end of the trailer.

I mean like, substantial. Motorcycle is cool, but… Are we just getting some movie clips? That seems rather lame, especially for a game with a story like this.

So, I’ve played couple hours now. I have not yet gotten to the parts where cutscenes would be should be shown to say whether they are just cutscenes of the past or you can actually play in the past- But basically you get a trial to kill enemies that kill you with one hit and you kill with one hit- these unlock 4 new Shrines based on said mechanic. After doing that, you unlock 4 locations that hint towards the location of 12 challenges that open a new Shrine (each of the 4 location shows the location of 3 of the shrines/challenges.)
After you do all 3 shrines/challenges of one location- You either get the cutscenes shown, or you can somehow play the time when they were alive, I’ll find out sooner or later. As I said, I don’t know as I have yet to do all 3 of one location.
The first challenge/shrine lead me to a stronger version of Molduga (King Molduga) that supposedly the Gerudo Champion once beat.

Basically, even if these end up just being cutscenes (which would be rather disappointing) there’s still new content to play for several hours.

And a slight update now… yes, turns out only get the short cutscene after all that. After seeing the clip your Champion powers gets a boost, such as Urbosa’s Fury has a shorter cooldown.

    This is so dumb.

And so… there’s some new dialogue, new information, 8 hours worth of shrines/bosses/puzzles, new armors/hats, cutscenes of Zelda recruiting the Champions, new Divine Beast and the bike. That’s about it for this DLC pack.

I doubt there is going to be anything new once I beat Ganon again after this, but I’ll do it tomorrow just in case anyway.

The motorcycle is gay and retarded and they should feel bad for even thinking of that idea. As far as everything else, more content is always cool I suppose.

    Why a motorcycle?
