Blue Reflection Anime Announced for Spring 2021

Blue Reflection

An anime project based off the video game Blue Reflection has been announced for April of 2021. The anime series will be called Blue Reflection Ray.

Blue Reflection is a 2017 video game from Gust Co. who are known for their work on the Atelier franchise; the game was published by Koei-Tecmo. Blue Reflection follows Hinako Shirai, a student at Hoshinomiya Girls High School in contemporary Japan.

Shirai used to be a ballet dancer who had to quit following her passion after an accident which injured her leg. However she’s given the power to fight as a magical girl (called a “Reflector”) and is once again able to move freely thanks to the power of being a Reflector.

You can read a brief summary of the game’s plot from the game’s Steam page below.

“A clear summer sky spreads over the Hoshinomiya Girls’ High School.
This story begins with the belated start of school life for Hinako Shirai, who has just recovered from a leg injury due to a tragic accident.

The magical sisters Yuzu and Lime bestowed to her a special power to become a “Reflector”.
Hinako transforms into the magical Reflector form and protects the world from devastating forces for the sake of the world, and her own dream that she thought she had to give up on.”

A new Teaser PV was also released in anticipation of the upcoming series, and showcases some of the character design and animation. The Teaser PV can be found below.

It’s unknown at the time of publishing if Blue Reflection Ray will see a western premiere.
